Seasonings

A compendium of work 'en plein aire' from the Autumn of 2005 through to this summer.

Wilno Station Gallery, Wilno, Ontario - June 20 through the Summer.

This Madawaska Valley of Mine

Experience the 'Valley' through the eyes of an artist born and raised in the Madawaska Valley. From 'en plein aire' works to major studio pieces the viewer is invited to participate in the discovery of the local culture and nature. Through the emotive experience of 'Algonkin Mosaic' paintings (developed by the artist himself) Alfred captures his heritage and his homelands in living paint.

Opening vernissage - Friday, June 30th, 2006

At South of 60 Art Centre, Barry's Bay, Ontario - July 1st - 31st

'thirty days in july': is a hommage to an Algonquin Park Summer!

Thirty four 'en plein aire' oil on birch panel paintings make up the main body of the exhibition. Several large scale 'studio paintings' inspired by the sketches and journals (kept over 30 uninterupted days in Algonquin Provincial Park at the height of growth and activity, the month of green berries, July) completes this very intimate study of Algonquin. Travelling by canoe and on foot over 300 kilometers from the north (Lake Kioshkokwi/Amable du Fond River) to the south (Hwy 60 Corridor) Algonquin is revealed one day at a time from searing heat to tulmultuous thunderstorms.. to quiet mornings of diamond brilliance. This is Algonquin in July..!

At present venues are being arranged for exhibition of these paintings and writings. If you would like to participate in providing an appropriate venue or other support, please go to the contact page on this site. I thank you for your interest in my work and our home and native land. Megwetch.
